History of HCSL

History / Background

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), established in 1972, is one of India's largest shipbuilding and ship repair facilities. It specializes in building a wide range of vessels including aircraft carriers, tankers, and naval ships.

As part of its business expansion strategy, CSL formed Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited (HCSL) in 2017 as a joint venture with Hooghly Dock & Port Engineers Limited (HDPEL), Kolkata, one of the oldest shipyards in India.

Following the approval of the Union Cabinet on October 03, 2019, HCSL became a wholly owned subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited with effect from November 01, 2019.

The company adopts best corporate governance practices wherever possible and maintains its administrative standards in line with the guidelines issued for Central Public Sector Enterprises.
